Here in Carolina, it's called the Champagne of the South. Iced tea. We drink it year-round, but in the summer it's especially challenging to constantly keep a pitcher of fresh tea in the fridge.
Hammacher Schlemmer (the longest running catalog company in the U.S.) has introduced an iced tea brewing machine that they say makes up to two quarts of iced tea in 10 minutes. Wow. Tell me more.
The Authentic Southern Sweet Tea Brewer automatically steeps tea at 204 degrees Fahrenheit. Sugar (added when the water is hot) and strength of tea can be adjusted to your personal taste, and both loose leaf and bagged teas can be used.
I really like the look of this machine, especially the attractive glass pitcher.
Purchase through Hammacher Schlemmer’s catalog, online at the company’s website or at its East 57th Street store in New York City.

Now THIS is a useful bit of kitchen electronics! And the price isn't nearly as high as I thought it would be!

What a truly excellent idea! It's hot in England at the moment and iced tea is really quite tempting...
Now I have heard of everything for tea.
I bought one and it works GREAT. Easy to use, very easy to clean and great tasting. Essentially, it works similarly to a coffee maker.
I went to an upscale supermarket and bought an assortment of loose teas to try out.
Does anyone know ... Can we use Splenda in this machine in place of sugar?
Waterway4, I would think Splenda would work okay - it's finer than granulated sugar so don't see where that would be a problem.
Thanks Denise. I'm going to give it a try.
